NEPA Sings: Meet the contestants

Meet the contestants: Madison Woods

When she was three-years-old, Madison, 17, discovered her passion for music through Shirley Temple.

“I would stand on the coffee table in front of the TV and imitate her singing and dancing,” she said. “I still have that same passion for music and performing today.”

As a community volunteer, Madison has seen firsthand what consistency means in the life of a child.

“Through volunteering at my local hospital and as a youth field hockey coach, I have learned that children can achieve great success when given enough confidence and support,” she said. “CASA provides children with the love and security they need and I would be honored to support such a great organization.”

Meet the contestants: Larry McIver

Larry, 30, is a professionally trained performer, holding a B.A. in theatre from the University of Scranton.

“I’ve been involved in music since childhood,” Larry said. “My parents had me involved in singing in the church choir at a young age. I had participated in various local performing arts programs all the way into college.”

When he’s not working his day job for an insurance company, Larry is also a member of a local wedding band called HOOPLA!

Through his participation in NEPA Sings, Larry is happy to use his talent to bring awareness to a need in the community.

“I’m very proud to be a part of this event to help give kids a voice because it brings awareness to a real concern in our community,” he said. “Participating in this event not only showcases my love for music, but it also brings awareness to CASA’s mission.”
