CASA of Wyoming Valley is proud to host a free community screening of Brave the Dark, a moving and heartfelt film based on a true story of resilience and hope. The film follows Mr. Deen, a dedicated teacher who discovers that one of his students, Nate, has been living out of his car and has landed in jail. What begins as a simple act of kindness—bailing Nate out—quickly becomes a life-changing journey as Mr. Deen fights to help Nate confront his traumatic past and overcome his inner demons.

Following the screening, attendees are invited to stay for a brief panel discussion featuring the filmmaker, CASA staff, and child advocates, offering insight into the film’s themes and the real-world impact of advocacy for children who have experienced trauma.

CASA of Wyoming Valley invites the community to a complimentary screening of Brave the Dark on Wednesday, February 25, at the Dietrich Theater. This powerful and heartfelt film is based on a true story that highlights resilience, compassion, and the profound impact one caring adult can have on a young person’s life.

The film follows Mr. Deen, a dedicated teacher who discovers that one of his students, Nate, has been living out of his car and has landed in jail. What begins as a simple act of kindness—bailing Nate out—quickly becomes a life-changing commitment as Mr. Deen helps Nate confront the trauma of his past and overcome the inner struggles threatening his future.

The free screening will be followed by a brief panel discussion featuring the filmmaker, CASA staff, and child advocates. Panelists will explore the film’s themes and discuss the importance of advocacy, mentorship, and community support for children and youth who have experienced trauma.
