CASA of Wyoming Valley is proud to host a free community screening of Brave the Dark, a moving and heartfelt film based on a true story of resilience and hope. The film follows Mr. Deen, a dedicated teacher who discovers that one of his students, Nate, has been living out of his car and has landed in jail. What begins as a simple act of kindness—bailing Nate out—quickly becomes a life-changing journey as Mr. Deen fights to help Nate confront his traumatic past and overcome his inner demons.

Following the screening, attendees are invited to stay for a brief panel discussion featuring the filmmaker, CASA staff, and child advocates, offering insight into the film’s themes and the real-world impact of advocacy for children who have experienced trauma.

This powerful and heartfelt film is based on a true story that highlights resilience, compassion, and the profound impact one caring adult can have on a young person’s life.

The film follows Mr. Deen, a dedicated teacher who discovers that one of his students, Nate, has been living out of his car and has landed in jail.
